McQ, a contemporary brand from Alexander McQueen, was founded in 2005. A five-year license agreement followed with SINV SpA. In November 2011 the brand was brought back under house control under Creative Director sarah Burton, who worked with Lee McQueen from 1996. McQ returned to London Fashion Week for AW12 to host a one-off show to celebrate its return in-house. The brand’s first global flagship opened on London’s Dover Street in September 2012.
McQ distils the vision of Sarah Burton into collections that embody an urban, young London. Rooted in the renegade spirit of Alexander McQueen who founded the brand, McQ offers menswear, womenswear and accessories with a casual, everyday ease and a rebellious attitude. McQ has always drawn inspiration from street culture, reinterpreting the uniform of London’s subcultures for a modern wardrobe. Drawing on the rich design archive of Alexander McQueen, McQ offers a relaxe, raw interpretation of the house codes.
